Riley received an unprecedented 3 ORGAN transplant on March 5th 2013.
An inspection was done of the O’Brien house and there were some issues that we suspected but were now confirmed. They noted some structural issues, HVAC problems and some overall building concerns. Outside Contractors also found termite damage and mold. The concern is especially with the mold is that even though it borders on what is tolerable by healthy adults.
Riley in his lung compromised position can not tolerate even the smallest amount of mold.
Looking at the house as a whole, the initial concept was to put on either an addition or a second story to the property to provide an additional bedroom and a room in which Riley can “go to school” and other activities. Unfortunately the Engineers have deemed the structure cannot withstand an addition.
The O'Brien Family has moved to a TEMPORARY two bedroom apartment. This is not ideal, yet they have no choice because making sure Riley has a safe environment to recover in is priority.
We are still working to find a permanent solution that will be best for Riley. Stay tuned for more details.
